Carefully study each move.

I learn one or a few characters moves to the point of mastery and then use them depending on the situation.

Button mashers and people who use the same move over and over again are extremely annoying, but it's all the more sweeter when you beat them.

i tend to learn alot of moves for one char and then button bash

a little strategy I call the rope-a-dope. Hit once, defend for a while until their button mashing rhythm gets messed up, then as Emeril Lagasse says, "BAM!"

I try to carefully study each move, but if its my cousin challenging me on some game I havent played, I sometimes end up button mashing a little.
