Topic: the Truth About Comedy
I've come to realize, the true meaning of what comedy really is.
Ridicule
The only real comedy (comedy thats actually funny that is) is always centred around making fun or something or someone. Be it jokes, sketches, or quick one liners, there is always some one or something that is being made fun of, and if its not a person, it is personified.
So then, why are people so arrogant and egotistical that they get angry when some body teases them? Considering there is a 100% chance they've laughed at a joke before.
I think there are several reasons -
1. Its not what you say, its the meaning behind the words.
For example, if i call my friend an ass hole because he has a nicer car than me, he'll smile and we'll both laugh about it
If i call my friend an ass hole because he stole $50 from my wallet, there's going to be a little less smiling, and a little more angry.
2. Who says it. This is the common rule that annoys me very much, giving special privileges to people because you've known them for longer. Two people make an identical joke, who is funnier? assuming they both made it in good humor, and both did a good job on the joke, the answer should be neither. However, most people choose who's funnier based off of inconsequential things. ie mainly looks and familiarity.
3. Not being a hippocrate is too hard.
every single day we see more people than we can count, telling others not to do something, and then turning around and doing it themselves. People like to feel in charge, and by doing so, they feel privileged.
4. EGO
The thing in this world that annoys me more than most things, is people with big ego's. They think the world magically around themselves, and that everything they want and think should become law. I honestly have no idea how these people come up with such fanciful idea's, but it pisses me off.
5. People feel sorry for themselves
I already said in a different post, people feeling sorry for themselves is one of the most annoying things anywhere. Which i believe is another reason people get angry when others make jokes about them.
In the end, it really comes down to your mind set. The world would be an infinitely better place if people learned how to just take a bloody joke. Unfortunately my previous mentioned "Rules" are the kind people don't like to break (in general) There are exceptions to every rule... except for this one and the one previous to this one. But not this one.
I probably missed a few points i was thinking of, but give me your views anyway (those bored enough to read the entire thing)

I think I heard one of my favorite comedians, Jeff Ross, say:
"If it doesn't offend someone, it's probably not funny."
Something like that... and I think that's somewhat true. Now, I don't mean maliciously mocking someone or harassment, but if a joke is made in good humor with no negative intentions, then I think it's fine. Now, there are certain common sense limits, but most can figure those out very quickly.
